About Our Dog-Friendly Glamping Stables in Kendal

Our Traditional Stables are perfect for couples or families looking for a rustic stay at Newlands Farm. They feature classic stable features and basic yet homely essentials.

You'll either have a restful sleep on the spacious triple bunk bed (double at the bottom, single at the top) or snug single sofa bed. Linen is provided for all.

We recommend travelling light when you come to our humble stables, but you'll find ample space underneath the bunk bed if you need somewhere to put your luggage.

You don't need to worry about towels taking up space, though, as we provide white fluffy ones for use in the private bathroom. Here, you'll benefit from a corner sink, toilet, and roomy shower.

To make your stay even easier, we also provide you with kitchen utensils, crockery, cutlery, tea and coffee-making facilities, and cleaning products for your fully functioning kitchenette. This nifty space includes a fridge, toaster, microwave, kettle, and plenty of cupboard space for any groceries or snacks you bring along.

During your stay at our Traditional Stables, you'll be making the most of the picturesque countryside by cooking al fresco. Your own gas BBQ is situated beyond the stable doors and onto your private undercover terrace, where you'll also find seating.

If you fancy meeting your neighbours, there are plenty of extra tables, seating, and fire pits around the property. There's also a communal pizza oven - just bring your dough and toppings!

If you're a larger party, you can book all our stables for your group. Simply book each stable individually. Be sure to check availability!

Newlands Farm Stables are nestled between miles of picturesque woodland and meadows, situated just outside the historic market town of Kendal - just a stone's throw away from the Lake District.

As well as offering its own natural beauty in the surrounding countryside, our accommodations are perfectly located for your trip to the famed Cumbrian National Park.

North West National Parks

The Lake District, known for its winding glacial lakes, rugged mountains, lush green forests, and historic literacy links, is a top destination for those with a passion for nature and walking trails.

Windermere, home to England’s largest lake, is just a 20-25 minute drive from Newlands Farm. It is a lovely day trip, with stunning views of the Southern Lake District. Orrest Head is also within this vicinity and a great hill hike for regular walkers or adventurous families.

If you're stopping for the day, you'll also find fantastic historic pubs, simple and Michelin-starred, using locally sourced, natural ingredients. Have you tried any local delicacies - Cumberland sausage, rum butter, or Kendal mint cake?

The Yorkshire Dales are also easily accessible from our location. Here, you’ll find the famous and highly distinctive dry stone walls - centuries-old man-made structures.

Of course, you can also visit the dramatic Yorkshire Three Peaks, bask in the serenity of rolling hills, and hike until your heart's content.

Cumbria & Yorkshire Local Heritage Sites

Don’t forget to enjoy some local history and visit the medieval ruins of Kendal Castle. You'll be able to take in the same breathtaking views as those from the Middle Ages.

Things for Children to Do in North West England

If you’ve got the kids with you, why not stop at The World of Beatrix Potter? The exhibition features much-loved characters, like Peter Rabbit, recreated in iconic Lake District settings.

Whether you love history, appreciate nature, or you’re a bit of a foodie, our local area is packed with lots to do and see for the whole family.
