Best Glamping Breaks in the Lake District for Your Next UK Getaway

The beautiful Lake District is a haven for nature lovers, but if camping isn't your style (we can't say we blame you), glamorous camping might be the thing for you. So, let's get into the best glamping breaks in the Lake District ahead of your trip.

Glamping in this stunning region combines the beauty of the great outdoors with the comfort and luxury of modern accommodation.

Imagine waking up to the sight of rolling hills, serene lakes, and picturesque valleys, all while enjoying the amenities of a high-end stay. There's no better way to experience the Cumbrian national park.

Our deluxe accommodation here at Newlands Farm Stables is the very definition of glamping, and we cannot wait to show you what we have to offer!

If you want to get ahead of us and book your stay ASAP, you can check out our accommodations by following the links below!

Bracken Barn

Glamping in our Bracken Barn will have you experiencing countryside luxury like no other.

As the largest single barn on our site, you and your family or friends will relish coming home after a day exploring the Lake District to a spacious, warm, and cosy barn.

A Homely Living/Dining Area

You'll be greeted with a large living/dining area to socialise in, as well as a fully equipped kitchenette so you can cook a hearty winter stew or a zingy summer salad.

Bathroom & Bedrooms

You and your guests will also have a private bathroom to wash the day off in. A shower, sink, and toilet will be ready at your convenience. You don't need to worry about towels either; we provide each accommodation with fresh, fluffy ones upon your arrival.

To ensure each guest gets a restful night's sleep in the peace of the Bracken Barn, surrounded by rows and rows of fields, each room provides each person with their own little sanctuary.

Warmed with underfloor heating, your room will either be a spacious double room, a lovely twin room, the living room on a comfy pull-out sofa bed, or the exclusive wooden pod situated just outside the barn featuring two twin beds.

Plenty of storage space is available, too, so you can pack as light or as heavy as you need.

Outdoor Amenities

The wooden pod isn't the only thing you'll find outside. Bracken also has a large terrace with beautiful views, a gas BBQ, and a dining area.

You'll even have private access to our BBQ hut if you fancy cooking alfresco with a little extra shelter – it's hard to say no to that one.

Just like the rest of our accommodation, we've fully stocked Bracken Barn with all the cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery, cleaning supplies, and brew-making facilities for the most comfortable stay possible.

You can find more information on Bracken Barn, but if you're already sold, head to our booking page below, and let's secure your holiday today!

Our beautiful Heather Barn is almost identical to Bracken without the extra amenities (access to the wooden pod and BBQ hut), making it the perfect glamping barn for six people.

Heather Barn has all the same internal luxuries as Bracken Barn, as well as the outdoor terrace with a BBQ and dining area.

Attached to Heather Barn is also a secure outdoor area, ideal for wheelchairs, pushchairs, or bikes, which you'll have exclusive access to during your stay.

If you're feeling sociable, you're more than welcome to head out to the communal areas of the site. We have a pizza oven, pool table, fire pits, and plenty of seating dotted around, so make the most of it!

Focusing on a more rustic, cosy glamping experience, these stables provide a unique place to stay on your trip to the Lake District.

Lounge, Dine & Sleep in Cosy Luxury

Inspired by real stables with actual features resembling one, this accommodation boasts studio-living with a private en suite for your comfort and convenience.

You'll, of course, find a fully equipped kitchenette, a single pull-out sofa bed, and a relaxing triple bunk bed (double on the bottom, single on the top) for you and your guests to take advantage of.

After taking in the stunning scenery of the national park, you'll also be able to relish in that of Kendal while you're out on your private terrace. Here, you'll find a gas BBQ and some seating so you can fully immerse yourself in the countryside.

The Superior Stable is a little bigger and includes a roomy double pull-out sofa bed and a large four-poster double bed for optimum relaxation. Now that sounds like heaven after a day of activities on the lakes.

If you need the details for the Superior Stable, you can find them here, or if you want to go ahead and check availability, you can find our booking page below!

Thanks to the communal fire pits, seating areas, pool table, and alfresco cooking areas, getting chatting to your neighbours has never been easier.

You can also try forgetting your devices during your stay. Everyone can benefit from a digital detox every once in a while.

We don't have TVs in any of our accommodations either, so this glamping holiday is the perfect opportunity to unwind, unstrain your eyes, and reconnect with the world outside your phone.

We do have plug sockets and free WiFi if you're really missing last night's episode of your favourite programme, though. Even we can't miss a second of Emmerdale.

Visiting the Lake District Like a Pro

The Lake District National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its astonishing beauty, mammoth lakes, and diverse nature.

Whether you're an avid walker, keen cyclist, or just after a bit of mint cake, the lakes have something to offer for everyone.

So, before you embark on your exciting trip, we've put together a few tips we think are worth knowing, so you can explore the National Park like a pro.

  1. Plan walks around the weather: Leave certain hikes like Scafell Pike for clearer days, and save valley or lake walks for overcast, wet days. Like the rest of the UK, the weather up here is famously rainy.
  2. Avoid the crowds: Start your day early, especially in popular locations, if you want to beat the crowds. Similarly, if you're really not fond of bustling places, skip the honeypots altogether (like Windermere or Bowness) in favour of quieter gems like Buttermere.
  3. Sort parking in advance: Luckily, if you're staying at Newlands, you can use public transport to get to and from the Lakes, but if you plan to drive, we recommend using apps to prebook your parking.
  4. Bring the proper gear (even if you have no idea!): We're talking waterproofs, decent walking boots, offline maps, and a backup power bank. This stuff can be lifesavers.
  5. Book restaurants and pubs ahead of time: Popular spots like The Drunken Duck get busy and often need reserving, especially during school holidays. Avoid disappointment and try to be a little organised.
