We can't wait to show you our unique accommodation!

Bracken Barn

If you’re dreaming of a countryside escape where your dog is just as welcome as you are, look no further than Bracken Barn here at Newlands Farm Stables.

As with all our accommodations, we are 100% dog and pet-friendly. We even have a dedicated fenced dog walk to the side of the property, perfect for those morning leg stretches.

Bracken Barn is the largest of our barn conversions, suitable for up to eight people. This means you'll either be sleeping in the stylish double bedroom, roomy twin room, comfy pull-out sofa bed, or inside the cosy wooden pod just outside the barn.

The pod is exclusive to Bracken guests, by the way. And so is the guest-favourite BBQ hut, an area to cook your food under the stars and sheltered from rain.

Choosing Bracken Barn also means you'll have a fully equipped kitchenette (we even provide things like cleaning supplies and crockery), a private bathroom, a spacious open-plan living space, and a large dining terrace with your own BBQ.

All of this is located just half an hour from the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Perfection. If we do say so, ourselves.

Heather Barn

Heather Barn is our other barn conversion here at Newlands, and it's pretty much the same as Bracken in terms of facilities inside the barn—plus the large outdoor terrace.

It's the perfect size for a party of six, plus your dog, of course. After a day of exploring Yorkshire, you'll unwind in the comfort of your barn, complete with modern amenities and rustic charm.

You'll also find a secure outdoor area right next to your barn, so if you're travelling with bikes, pushchairs, or wheelchairs, this is the perfect spot to store them safely.

As with all our accommodations, you'll have access to the various fire pits and seating dotted around the site (amazing for toasting marshmallows!).

We also have a communal al fresco dining area where you'll find extra seating, a BBQ, a large fridge, a pizza oven, and a pool table.

Heather Barn is the perfect alternative to pet-friendly cottages just outside Yorkshire. Find more information on Heather, or you can book your stay with us below!

Traditional Stables 1 & 2

Our Traditional Stables are a step away from our converted barns and offer a cosy and rustic alternative to dog-friendly cottages in Yorkshire.

They offer studio living and the perfect luxury glamping countryside break for couples, small families, and solo travellers.

Equipped with everything you need to experience the countryside comfortably, these stables with traditional features are your own little slices of heaven.

You'll either enjoy a restful night's sleep surrounded by nature in the spacious triple bunk bed or pull-out single sofa bed. Both are just as relaxing.

You'll also find a private bathroom, a fully equipped kitchenette, a private terrace with your own BBQ, and, of course, access to all the site's communal areas.

As this space is rather cosy, we allow two adults and two children per stable, plus your dog. If you're travelling with the maximum number of people and a huge hound, we might suggest booking both stables!

If you think our Traditional Stables sound like the perfect fit for your party and your pooch, book your stay below!

Superior Stable

The Superior Stable here at Newlands Farm is exactly that—superior.

Located right next to the communal facilities that we spoke about earlier, you'll always have first dibs on amenities like the pool table and pizza oven! Who could resist? Plus, your dog will love the social aspect, especially if there are other pups on site.

There are a few differences to the Traditional Stables.

First of all, it's slightly larger, but it also comes with a four-poster double bed (maximum comfort!) and a double pull-out sofa bed that folds up to act as a chill-out area inside the stable. Now that's premium glamping.

Other than that, the facilities and amenities inside and outside the stable are exactly the same as the traditional stables, so you know you'll get a homely, relaxing stay for up to two adults and two children.

That sounds like fun for everyone, including the pups!

Must-See Dog-Friendly Attractions

Yorkshire is full of sights and attractions that the masses flock to every year, but it can be a little trickier to find dog-friendly activities and attractions that you and your furry companion can enjoy together.

Luckily, there are plenty of options across Yorkshire that welcome dogs with open arms. From tranquil countryside sights to historic landmarks, there is something for everyone.

Here are some must-see dog-friendly attractions in Yorkshire:

  • Bolton Abbey — Dogs are allowed to this 12th-century location, but they need to be kept on a leash when walking in Strid Wood and along the Priory Trail and Welly Walk.
  • North York Moors Railway Experience — Dogs are allowed aboard for a small fee, but there are specific terms and conditions which you should take time to read before your visit.
  • Fountains Abbey Dogs are allowed anywhere outdoors and in most indoor spots at this location, but they must be kept on a leash at all times.
  • Brimham Rocks — Dogs are welcome here, but they should be kept on a leash at all times.
  • The Yorkshire Dales National Park — Of course, your pup is allowed here! There are certain restrictions and recommendations to be aware of, so check the website before your trip.

Cosy Dog-Friendly Tearooms

You can't go to Yorkshire without visiting a traditional tearoom. Spot of Yorkshire Tea, anyone? What about a cup of Tetley's?

Of course, you'll have your pup with you, so it's no use going to a tearoom that doesn't allow them, or you'll have to sit outside. Ideal for summer, not so great during winter.

Below are a selection of dog-friendly tearooms in and around the Dales:

  • Jenny's Tea Shop, Harrogate
  • Elaines Tea Room, Austwick
  • The Tea Cottage, Bolton Abbey
  • Kibble Bakery & Dog Spa, Skipton
  • The Copper Kettle, Reeth

There's nothing like heading down to the pub for a cold pint and a Sunday dinner after a day of hiking, cycling, or roaming the towns and villages.

Below are some of our recommendations for dog-friendly country pubs in and around the Dales:

  • The Farmers Arms, Muker
  • The Lister Arms, Malham
  • The Red Lion, Burnsall
  • The Wheatsheaf Inn, Caperby
